Stubborn Warrior : New Year 5K

 

Stubborn Warrior presents a New Year 5K located at the historic and beautiful campus of Dorothea Dix. Stubborn Warrior is a North Carolina-based company, and part of our ongoing mission is to provide awareness and support of notable non-profits. This year we are partnering with the Wounded Warrior Family Support.

Location

The event will be held at Dorothea Dix Campus, right in the heart of downtown Raleigh. The 5K running course is on paved road, surrounded by ancient oaks and historic buildings. We anticipate athletes of all levels and abilities to participate in this running event. The New Year 5K is a timed event.

Starting Times

The event will begin at 8 am and will continue until all runners have completed the course.

Entry Fees

Entry fees $25.00 early registration and $30.00 late registration at the event site. The 5K entry fee includes a t-shirt, race bib and chip. T-shirt size for late registration is not guaranteed, so register early. As part of our year long campaign in support of Toys-for-Tots, children 8 and under may run for free with a paying adult, by donating a new unwrapped toy. A signed Disclaimer Form by parent or guardian must also be turned in.

Awards

Prizes will be given to the top three male and female runners in the following categories:

14 and under, 15-29, 30-49, 50 and over

Disabled Athletes
Wheelchair racer = Top three male and top three female over all

Prosthetic racer = Top three male and top three female over all

Additionally, as part of our Stubborn Resolution 2014 series, which is made up of 5 races, points will be awarded to the top 50 finishers of each race in the series.

Runners who accumulate the most points and participate in the September grand finale event will receive prizes and the Stubborn Warrior medal which will be given to the top three male and female in all categories. Late Registration/Race Packet Pickup

Late registration and race packet pickup will take place Friday at Omega Sports Inc., 314 Crossroads Blvd., Cary, NC 27518 (919) 859-2623 from 11 am - 1 pm and 4 - 7 pm and Saturday 7am at the Dix campus. Please bring your photo ID for faster processing. For late registration there will be an additional processing fee of $5.00 added to the regular fee of $25.00. Late registration may not guarantee a T-shirt so try and register early. A portion of our proceeds from this event will go to support the Wounded Warriors Family Support where their mission is to provide support to the families of those who have been wounded, injured or killed during combat operations.

Miscellaneous information:

Parking is free for this event. For athletes who are currently registered in any of our Stubborn Resolution 2014 series and wish to participate in our Stubborn Warrior Woodstock Run at the Howell Woods Environmental Learning Center, Four Oaks on April 5th, 2014, will receive a $5 discount with registration to any Resolution Series race.
