Avoid Skipping Recovery

Listening to your body is key to avoiding injury and burnout. Your body can actually grow stronger when you are at rest. The process of training includes workouts that are strategically placed along with rest days, which provides stimulation during the activity and recovery when you are at rest. If you are new to running, it is important not to push yourself to hard. Injuries can pop up when training advances too quickly. If your body is giving you warning signs, listen and take the extra time off so you can fully adjust and recover to meet your specific fitness needs.

2nd Annual Teal 5K Run / Walk & Family Fun Day

Calling all gynecologic cancer survivors, fighters, loved ones, fitness lovers, runners, walkers, surgeons, nurses, PCOS, friends, health lovers, all breast friends, Hystersisters, neighbors, sponsors, health-care providers, vegan lovers, and other supporters!

 

Join South Florida's 2nd Annual TEAL 5K RUN/ FUN WALK™ for Ovarian & Gynecologic Cancer, on Sunday, September 24th, 2017 at Vista View Park in Davie, FL.  This event offers participants a family-friendly fun-filled day. 

PURPOSE:  

To celebrate the National Ovarian & Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month, to raise much-needed funds for Education, Awareness Outreach, Survivors Support Services and to honor all South Florida's gynecologic cancer survivors and fighters. Also, to spread awareness to the general public about the warning signs and symptoms of gynecologic cancers.

* Baby strollers, leashed dogs, and wheelchair WELCOME!

TEAM ENTRIES

Families, companies, charities and schools - grab a friend, a co-worker or a family member and form a team. Teams consist of five people or more. Register before May 31st and save! Teams consisting of 10 or more members receive sponsor benefits at the Vendor Level. Teams consisting of 25 or more receive sponsor benefits at Teal Ribbon level. Admission to the Teal 5K Run/ Fun Walk™ | Health Fair | Post-Race Celebration is open to the general public, but we encourage participants to register for the 5K Run/Fun Walk or donate generously help our efforts and to support the cause.  5K WALK/RUN MALE / FEMALE AGE DIVISIONS

5K Run Chip Timing and Certified Race Course. The race will be timed using RFID Race Chip Timing System. 5K race participants not wearing their assigned Tag on their race number will not be timed or scored in the results.

  • Late Packet Pick-Up/ Check-In          5:30 am – 6:30 am
  • Welcome /Opening Ceremony:               6:30 am
  • Survivor Parade & Group Photo:             6:50 am
  • Warm-Up Session Start:                        7:00 am
  • 5K Run / Walk Start:   (Promptly)          7:15 am   
  • Breakfast / Refreshment Open:             8:00 am
  • Basket / Raffle / Silent Auction Posted   8:20 am
  • Awards Presentation                            8:30 am
  • Post -Celebration Party & Family Fun Day:  8:30 am – 1:00 pm

BEFORE RACE DAY PICKUP:

Early race packet pick-up can be done in-person on Friday, September 22, 2017, at Runner's Depot  Davie, Florida from 11:00 am – 3:30 p.m. 

PACKET PICK UP: 

Please bring picture ID with you for packet pick up. If someone is picking your packet up for you, please make sure they have a copy of your ID to show Kindah Foundation staff member at the pick-up session. 

TEAM PACKET PICK UP: 

If you are picking up for a team, please email us to let us know so that we have your packets ready for you. Team Leader only needs show their ID. Late Packets can also be picked up on the day of the Run/Walk from 5:30 AM to 6:30 AM. All packets must be picked up at early pick-up or on the morning of the race.                                    Packets will not be mailed. 

 All proceeds from this event will go to benefit Kindah Foundation a 501(c) (3) organization.
