Avoid Skipping Recovery
Listening to your body is key to avoiding injury and burnout. Your body can actually grow stronger when you are at rest. The process of training includes workouts that are strategically placed along with rest days, which provides stimulation during the activity and recovery when you are at rest. If you are new to running, it is important not to push yourself to hard. Injuries can pop up when training advances too quickly. If your body is giving you warning signs, listen and take the extra time off so you can fully adjust and recover to meet your specific fitness needs.
The Panama City Beach Chamber of Commerce is proud to organize the 3rd Annual Panama City Beach Marathon. Set for Saturday, December 2, 2017, the 26.2 mile race has been certified as a qualifier for the coveted Boston Marathon.
The Panama City Beach Marathon will give running fanatics the opportunity to test their limits while running alongside the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. The Panama City Beach Marathon also incorporates the 13.1 mile half-marathon and 5K races.
EARLY PACKET PICKUP
Packet Pick Up will take place December 1 at TBD.

RACE DAY PACKET PICKUP
Race Day Packet Pick Up will take place Saturday December 2, at Jimmy Buffett’s
Margaritaville Main Deck located at Pier Park.

Time: 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM
All runners will receive t-shirt** & timing chip when packets are picked up.
We strongly urge you to pick up Friday if possible to avoid delays on race day.
Full Marathon will start at 7:00 AM Sharp, December 2!
(Start/Finish Line is located north of Margaritaville on Pier Park Drive in front of The University Store. Look for Start/Finish Line Arch and listen for DJ Markie Mark)
Half Marathon will start at 7:30 AM Sharp, December 2!
5K will start at 8:00 AM Sharp, December 2!
Kid’s Fun Run will start at 9:30 AM, December 2!
Staging area will be north of start/finish line.
Awards will start at the Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Main Stage at 10:30 AM.
10:30AM: 5K Awards
11:00AM: Half Marathon Awards
11:30AM: Full Marathon Awards
Full Marathon is a certified course and Boston Marathon Qualifier.
Half Marathon is a certified course.
All Full, Half Marathon and 5K Finishers will receive a medal at the finish line. Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each division. Full Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K Overall Finishing awards will be given as well.
Kids Fun Run participants will receive a participation ribbon.
Marathon - Water and/or Gatorade will be on course at mile markers. GU Energy gel will be available.
Half Marathon - Water and/or Gatorade will be on course at mile markers. GU Energy gel will be available.
Start/Finish Line will have Water and Fruit for Runners.
Signs will be posted every mile starting with mile 1 and for 5K / Half Marathon / Full Marathon turn-around points. Course is an out and back.
Bay Medical EMS will be on course during race for runners in need of assistance.
Portalets: Full Marathon will have portalets approximately every 6 miles on course at turn point. Half Marathon will have a portalet at the turn-around.
Course is not closed to traffic, so be careful and always be aware, you will be running with the flow of traffic. Traffic is minimal this time of year but is always out there.
Bay County Sheriff’s Department and Panama City Beach Police Department will be on course for your needs as well.
Course will close on a rolling schedule. Entire course shuts down at 1:00 PM Sharp! (6 hour time limit for Full Marathon)
AFTER PARTY AT MARGARITAVILLE
Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville will supply complimentary Chicken & Sausage Gumbo and Land Shark Draft beer. Beer for Runners ONLY at finish of race. Must show bib number to enter designated area. Beer provided to runners 21 years of age or older, of course!
Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville will open to the public at 10:30 AM and will offer runners, friends and family 15% off merchandise.
Online Registration will close November 30, 2017 at 11:00 PM.
You may still register in person at the Panama City Beach Chamber of Commerce through Thursday, November 30. You may also register on Friday, December 1 (Packet Pick Up Day) at Dick's Sporting Goods if space permits.
There is NO RACE DAY registration!
