Build a Foundation
Add some variety to your exercise routine. Run one day and strength train the next. This will not only hold your interest in the workouts longer, but it will give your body the time it needs for recovery. Additionally, you are covering more muscle groups throughout the body and keeping the workouts motivating and different.
To build up endurance for your 5K race include some interval training as part of your regimen. Use hill sessions and up-tempo to your runs to do this. Hold a steady running pace where you do not feel like you are just about to die, but that you can keep going.
Head to the track for shorter interval runs while learning to pace yourself. Learn to conserve your energy during the first part of the race and then to let go in the second half so you can make it to the finish line of you 5K race.
This loop course is a 1.24 mile dirt/mulch trail around Vista View Park. Runners complete as many loops as they can within the 6-hour limit.

Put up your tent, bring your lounge chairs and have a fun-filled day with your team. Take turns running the loop course and enjoy a break and a snack while your other teammates take their turn. You may exchange the 'baton' as many times as you want - run 1, 2, 3 or more loops at a time... your team's choice!
Runners complete as many loops as they can within the 6 hour limit. (partial laps do not score) The runner with the most loops completed in 6 hours or less wins!
Time limit 6 hours. Relay runners complete as many loops as they can within the 6 hour limit. A team consists of four (4) runners. Each team member will run as many loops as they wish before handing off to the next runner. Runners may alternate as many times as they choose. Relay members must exchange in the designated "relay exchange area." (only one runner allowed on course at a time) (partial laps do not score) The team with the most loops completed in 6 hours or less wins!
Final Registration and Packet Pick-up will be at Runner's Depot in Davie on Saturday, 1/13/18 from 10AM-4PM
