Avoid Skipping Recovery
Listening to your body is key to avoiding injury and burnout. Your body can actually grow stronger when you are at rest. The process of training includes workouts that are strategically placed along with rest days, which provides stimulation during the activity and recovery when you are at rest. If you are new to running, it is important not to push yourself to hard. Injuries can pop up when training advances too quickly. If your body is giving you warning signs, listen and take the extra time off so you can fully adjust and recover to meet your specific fitness needs.
Tis the season to be tacky, so don your worst apparel for the 2nd Annual Niceville Ugly Sweater Run/Walk December 9th, 2017. Race will start and finish at Hurricane Grill and Wings in Bluewater Bay. 5K Run & Walk open to all ages will begin at 9:00a.m. and a 1 mile fun run for children 12 & under will begin at 10:00 a.m.. There will be chances to win prizes with raffles and a costume contest (while the theme is 'Ugly Christmas Sweater', your most festive holiday outfit will due nicely). Join us for fun, music, and tackiness at this USA Track & Field sanctioned event!!!
Proceeds benefit the local nonprofit, Project I'MPOSSIBLE (www.projectimpossible.org) and Niceville Track & Field.
Please register online by December 7th. Raceday registration is $40 from 7-8 a.m. at Hurricane Grill and Wings.
Official timing will be provided. Medals will be awarded for top finishers in age groups TBD. T-shirts are included for those who register online by November 30th. Limited quantities and sizes may be available for those who register after November 30th. A limited quantity of Finisher's medals are available for purchase when you register online.
Packet pickup Friday December 8th from 5-8 p.m. at Hurricane Grill and Wings in Niceville (Bluewater)
You can sleep in but still support the cause. You can make a donation without registering for the race. Just click the donation tab from the menu.
Please bring your completed waiver and the printed PDF that will be attached to your confirmation email with you to packet pickup.
