Avoid Skipping Recovery

Listening to your body is key to avoiding injury and burnout. Your body can actually grow stronger when you are at rest. The process of training includes workouts that are strategically placed along with rest days, which provides stimulation during the activity and recovery when you are at rest. If you are new to running, it is important not to push yourself to hard. Injuries can pop up when training advances too quickly. If your body is giving you warning signs, listen and take the extra time off so you can fully adjust and recover to meet your specific fitness needs.

Stand Up Paddle Board Race in Mexico Beach, FL

We invite you to participate in the Mexico Beach SUP Classic!

We offer 2 races in 2018: May 19 and September 22. Both days offer categories for all levels. As long as you enjoy stand up paddle boarding, want to have some fun, meet some great people and be part of something exciting, we have an event for you!

 

For those who decide to spend the night before the race at El Governor Motel, we have some fun events:

Paddle boarding group lesson for first-timers - bringing family or friends who have not tried paddle boarding yet? We have group lessons for them to try it.

SUP for Kids - the pros from Bare Foot Kayaking will have a demo clinic for kids to try paddle boarding.

Sunset SUP Yoga - join us or just enjoy from the beach. All levels welcome. 

Pace packet pick up and pre-race dinner by the pool - sponsored by El Governor Motel. Enjoy good food and good company. Socialize and relax so can bring your a game Saturday morning.

WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT 

During the registration process you will have an opportunity to sign up to be part of the World Record Attempt.

The fee to participate is only $5.00 and serves as an indicator how many participants we have and other documentation.

Fees will be donated to Sea Turtle Conservancy in Gainesville, FL

?Check-in & packet pick up & body marking -  starts at 6:30 am. Please check in at least 30 min prior the start of your category. In your packet you will receive a race number, safety pins, registration ticket for the World Record Attempt if you signed up to participate and some goodies. Body marking will be another form of identification of athletes prior and during the race.

- boards 12'6" and under,

- boards 14'0"

awards for male and female winners under 29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and over

WEEKEND WARRIOR category - 5K (3.1 mile)

Winners will be awarded in these divisions:

- boards 12'6" and under,

- boards 14'0"

awards for male and female winners under 29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and over

?

ELITE category - 6K (6.2 mile)

Winners will be awarded in these divisions:

- boards 12'6" and under,

- boards 14'0"

awards for male and female winners under 29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and over

All finishers will receive a finisher medal!
