Avoid Skipping Recovery

Listening to your body is key to avoiding injury and burnout. Your body can actually grow stronger when you are at rest. The process of training includes workouts that are strategically placed along with rest days, which provides stimulation during the activity and recovery when you are at rest. If you are new to running, it is important not to push yourself to hard. Injuries can pop up when training advances too quickly. If your body is giving you warning signs, listen and take the extra time off so you can fully adjust and recover to meet your specific fitness needs.

Flight of the Phoenix "Firebird 5k" and 1 mile sprint

Date: Saturday, December 9th @3PM
Location/Registration: Bib pick up and day-of registration will start at 9 A.M. and will take place at our booth near the starting line on the corner of Bridge and Gay Streets.
Course: Both races will start and end on Bridge Street with the 5k looping down to the Schuylkill River Trail and back to Bridge Street. Course will be EXTREMELY well-marked and runner friendly!! (Not to mention a large crowed of spectators to cheer you on!!)
Participants are encouraged to stay around and enjoy the various vendors and entertainment throughout the day, and join the parade march to Friendship Field and watch the annual burning of the Phoenix Firebird!!

Professionally timed by Alpha & Omega Sports. Results will be posted on www.AlphaAndOmegaSports.com/results that evening!!

Unique Awards (and/or gift certificates to): to 1st Male and Female, as well as top 3 M and F in the following age classes: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+ and top two Masters (40+) M and F, plus a special award to the runner who traveled the longest distance, as well as youngest and oldest runners!!  Not to mention free pancake (with bib) good for up to two months from race day at Your Mom's Place!!

Entry Fee: $25 if paid two weeks prior to race, $30 evening of race.
(If a member of Schuylkill River Runners (SRR) $20 and $25 day of) $10 for the mile
