Build a Foundation
Add some variety to your exercise routine. Run one day and strength train the next. This will not only hold your interest in the workouts longer, but it will give your body the time it needs for recovery. Additionally, you are covering more muscle groups throughout the body and keeping the workouts motivating and different.
To build up endurance for your 5K race include some interval training as part of your regimen. Use hill sessions and up-tempo to your runs to do this. Hold a steady running pace where you do not feel like you are just about to die, but that you can keep going.
Head to the track for shorter interval runs while learning to pace yourself. Learn to conserve your energy during the first part of the race and then to let go in the second half so you can make it to the finish line of you 5K race.
MacDinton’s 2018 Hash Run
Join us for another great time at MacDinton's SOHO for the 2018 Kick Off Hash Run hosted at MacDinton’s SOHO Tampa, Florida.
Hash runs have been a favorite tradition among the community of happy people who love to enjoy both activity and libations. This event is running or walking 3 kilometers in total. It is just under a half mile loop around the block of MacDinton’s SOHO. We are using strategy, drinking and sidewalks so participants will be released in “waves” of participants. If you don’t find the category you’d like to a participate in and have a creative idea of your own for yourself or your group, simply send us an email and we will either add your category or at least give you a chance to talk us into it! Check in opens at 3 pm at MacDinton's and we begin at 4 pm. You begin your hash run from the beer tables set up on the MacDinton’s property. Each lap you back into the beer zone to consume your 12 ounce domestic beer before you begin your next lap. Stop at one lap or do all 3 as all participants will receive a finisher’s medal. However, ONLY 3 lap finisher’s are eligible for top finisher awards. If you are part of a team themed category you must all leave the final hash beer tent once your slowest or final team member consumes their last beer. The laughter and fun will amaze you and the party goes into the night with awards and LIVE music inside MacDinton’s SOHO
Check in begins at MacDinton’s at 3 p.m. and the Hash Run/Walk begins by wave categories at 4 pm. Waves will be announced for time starts as individuals and teams check in race day. Prizes will be presented at the MacDinton’s Reggae Party at 5 pm inside MacDinton’s. All runners and walkers MUST stay completely on the sidewalk. Hash running/walking IS the party...hash - run, hash - walk, hash party of the new year! Register now and thanks for racing local. We do our absolute best to keep everyone happy and safe.
