Build a Foundation

Add some variety to your exercise routine. Run one day and strength train the next. This will not only hold your interest in the workouts longer, but it will give your body the time it needs for recovery. Additionally, you are covering more muscle groups throughout the body and keeping the workouts motivating and different.

To build up endurance for your 5K race include some interval training as part of your regimen. Use hill sessions and up-tempo to your runs to do this. Hold a steady running pace where you do not feel like you are just about to die, but that you can keep going.

Head to the track for shorter interval runs while learning to pace yourself. Learn to conserve your energy during the first part of the race and then to let go in the second half so you can make it to the finish line of you 5K race.

The Color Me Green 5K Runs are five kilometer runs designed to encourage youths and community members to increase their physical activity while also having fun. During each run, participants are showered with colored dye as they pass through each marker point. This run, hosted by 4-H youth members, will be great opportunity for communities to come together and celebrate healthy living and being physically active.

Since its founding, 4-H has addressed national issuers including nutrition, fitness and safety in its programs, as well as social and emotional well-being. 4-H Healthy Living programs encompass a holistic approach that includes healthy eating habit, physical fitness, the capacity to recognize and direct emotions, and the ability to develop and maintain positive social interactions and relationships.

The California 4-H Healthy Living programs are developed and conducted by the University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources, and seek to address national issues including nutrition, physical fitness, substance abuse, safety, and social and emotional wellness.

How long is the course?              
The 5K is 3.1 miles.

Who gets a T-shirt? 
Only pre-registered runners that successfully complete the registration and payment processes seven weekdays before the race are guaranteed a free race t-shirt. 

Should I bring my own water?
Yes, but water will be provided on the course and at the finish line.  

I will be out of town on race day and not able to participate. Can I get my money returned?
We appreciate your race registration. We are unable to issue refunds. We are not in a position to credit your credit card or issue checks. 

Will the race be held if it's raining?
The race is a "rain or shine" event. All participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather, such as in a rain coat or hat. Umbrellas can pose a safety hazard to others, so please do not bring them.  . 

Can I transfer my entry to someone else?
We have a strict NO TRANSFER policy.
