Build a Foundation

Add some variety to your exercise routine. Run one day and strength train the next. This will not only hold your interest in the workouts longer, but it will give your body the time it needs for recovery. Additionally, you are covering more muscle groups throughout the body and keeping the workouts motivating and different.

To build up endurance for your 5K race include some interval training as part of your regimen. Use hill sessions and up-tempo to your runs to do this. Hold a steady running pace where you do not feel like you are just about to die, but that you can keep going.

Head to the track for shorter interval runs while learning to pace yourself. Learn to conserve your energy during the first part of the race and then to let go in the second half so you can make it to the finish line of you 5K race.

2019 Los Angeles River 10K & Half-Marathon

Welcome to the 2019 L.A. River 10K & Half Marathon online registration.  Each of the races in the past 4-years has sold out.  Why?  Because it's a RUN PARTY!  Golden Road Brewing is home to our roost post-race on this PR blazing course.  All finishers are invited to join the party, where your complimentary finisher's beer awaits (21 and over of course).  

 

The elite field is a new addition this year.  Purse prizes for overall winners in age groups/ gender class.  

 

All finishers receive:

  • Trophy pint glass
  • Raffle entry for bikes, Yetti coolers, and more

The course is fast, flat, straight, USATF certified and runs completely on the L.A. River.

Event details and schedule

10K start time:  8:10 AM

Half start time:  7:30 AM

Free parking available at Ferraro Soccer Complex.  No shuttle service scheduled as of now (to and from Golden Road).  Arrive 30-minutes early.  Bring your own hydration system, although water is available every two miles on the course.  The course is all paved with little sun cover so wear or bring sun screen.  

Policy:  Absolutely no refunds.  In accordance to standard industry policy, LA RIVER RUN OFFICIAL will not issue any refunds for any reason.  However, transfers to future races will be considered if the request is received in writing before 10/1/2018.  Shirt-size changes cannot be accepted after online registration is complete and cannot be accommodated during bib pick-up.  Please write to us to submit a cancellation request.  2019 event transfers to other runners can be accepted online through the link attached to your registration email.  Bibs will also have year of birth for age ID for finisher's beers.  Ages will be validated during bib pick-up and any found to have an inaccurate year of birth will not be issued a bib with no refund. 

 

LA RVIER RUN OFFICIAL reserves the right to postponse, reschedule, or cancel the race for unforseen reasons beyond our control.  These reasons might include severe weather forecast, emergency construction and/ or repair on the LA River, or other unforseen circumstances which the ARMY CORPS of ENGINEERS deems unsafe.  If the race is rescheduled, there are no refunds issued.  Only credit toward the re-scheduled date or future LA RIVER RUN OFFICIAL race are provided to 2019 participants.
