Avoid Skipping Recovery
Listening to your body is key to avoiding injury and burnout. Your body can actually grow stronger when you are at rest. The process of training includes workouts that are strategically placed along with rest days, which provides stimulation during the activity and recovery when you are at rest. If you are new to running, it is important not to push yourself to hard. Injuries can pop up when training advances too quickly. If your body is giving you warning signs, listen and take the extra time off so you can fully adjust and recover to meet your specific fitness needs.
Sierra Nevada Down River Paddle: New Event! Participants will start at Reedy Creek, race downriver to the finish at the 14th Street takeout. You will be sent off individually every minute and the fastest time will win! Pick your boat, kayak, canoe, or SUP. (Part of the River Rumble).
SUP Enduro: Anyone that is up for the challenge will have 2 categories to choose from, an expert/intermediate division or a recreational division. The expert/intermediate category will have to paddle a total distance of 6km (3.6 miles) and the rec. group will paddle a total distance of 3km (1.8 miles) on the Haxall Canal.
Sierra Nevada Kayak Boatercross: First time trials and then a single elimination, head to head kayak race down the James, heats of 4-5 competitors will battle it out through the rapids and around the buoys to advance to the next round. Top two survivors move on until only four are left to compete in the championship heat.
SUP Cross: In this single elimination, head to head Stand Up Paddle Board race down the James, heats of 4-5 competitors will battle it out to advance to the next round. Top two survivors move on until only four are left to compete in the championship heat.
