Avoid Skipping Recovery
Listening to your body is key to avoiding injury and burnout. Your body can actually grow stronger when you are at rest. The process of training includes workouts that are strategically placed along with rest days, which provides stimulation during the activity and recovery when you are at rest. If you are new to running, it is important not to push yourself to hard. Injuries can pop up when training advances too quickly. If your body is giving you warning signs, listen and take the extra time off so you can fully adjust and recover to meet your specific fitness needs.
Friends join us for one of Tampa Bays favorite downtown street parties with island lovers from around the whole celebrating at the Parrothead Festival in downtown Palm Harbor. Of course it all opens with your 5K run or walk at 11 a.m. which takes place from Peggy O's in downtown in an out and back run taking place on the entirely paved Pinellas Trail. The theme this year...THE GREAT PIZZA RUN! That's right we are celebrating the pie that has become it's OWN food group...PIZZA! your finisher's medals this year are one of a kind and will be the hit of the crowd.
The 5K is electronically timed, however, non competitve in nature. Top finisher award frames for to the first 10 males and first 10 female finisher's but EVERYONE registered will receive the pizza medal, your event day run shirt, a free beer by Michelob Ultra and FREE entry into the awesome Parrothead Festival with live bands and great entertainment all afternoon long.
Check in open in front of Peggy O's at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018. Suzanne will walk all runners and walkers to the run start at 10:50 a.m. and the 5K begins at 11 a.m. at 11:30 a.m. our post race party begins and the Parrothead Festival is on! Bring friends and of course kids are welcome at this family friendly event. Strollers are welcome but no dogs at this one please per the festival permit. Let's get your pizza ON and celebrate with the Island LOVERS! We've got something for EVERYONE
