Avoid Skipping Recovery
Listening to your body is key to avoiding injury and burnout. Your body can actually grow stronger when you are at rest. The process of training includes workouts that are strategically placed along with rest days, which provides stimulation during the activity and recovery when you are at rest. If you are new to running, it is important not to push yourself to hard. Injuries can pop up when training advances too quickly. If your body is giving you warning signs, listen and take the extra time off so you can fully adjust and recover to meet your specific fitness needs.
The 9th Annual Carrie on 5k and Brooklynn's Brigade Kiddie Run is being held to celebrate the life of Carrie Lorman who lost her life in a tragic car accident in December 2009. The race is a memorial to Carrie and all proceeds will once again remain in the community. This year the race will fund scholarships for two Rogers High School Seniors, will help CROSS with food and clothing needs of local residents/neighbors, will assist families in crisis and/or need through the Rogers Lions and will be used to purchase life-saving equipment for the Rogers Police and Fire Departments. Proceeds from our events in 2014 and 2015 were used to purchase cold water rescue suits for the Rogers Police and Fire Departments. One of these suits was used on March 21, 2018 by the Rogers Police Chief to save a man from drowning in a Rogers holding pond. The impact of our race was certainly felt that day.
Please join us for this lively, fun, family-friendly event in the beautiful community of Rogers.

The Carrie on 5k will commence in the church parking lot on a certified 5k course (courtesy of USA Track & Field) through quiet residential streets in Rogers. Childen 6-10 will run a longer course after the younger children are done. (Registration for one of the Kiddie Runs does guarantee the child a race t-shirt). We would ask that any child participting in the 5k race register and pay for the full race.
