Build a Foundation
Add some variety to your exercise routine. Run one day and strength train the next. This will not only hold your interest in the workouts longer, but it will give your body the time it needs for recovery. Additionally, you are covering more muscle groups throughout the body and keeping the workouts motivating and different.
To build up endurance for your 5K race include some interval training as part of your regimen. Use hill sessions and up-tempo to your runs to do this. Hold a steady running pace where you do not feel like you are just about to die, but that you can keep going.
Head to the track for shorter interval runs while learning to pace yourself. Learn to conserve your energy during the first part of the race and then to let go in the second half so you can make it to the finish line of you 5K race.
Christopher Coffland Memorial Fund (d/b/a Catch A Lift or "CAL") is a Charity team for Walt Disney World® Marathon Weekend Presented by Cigna® on January 9th through 13th 2019. CAL's mission is to assist veterans injured in the Iraq and Afganistan wars to improve their lives and mental health through physical fitness and rehabilitation. The funds raised from runners, donors and enthusiasts like you will be used to purchase gym memberships, in-home gym equipment and other fitness and rehabiliation equipment. Conditional Terms -
Your bib is conditioned on the following new terms that are required for all charities participating in Disney race events:
1 - if you do not live within 90 miles of Orlando, you will need to stay at a Disney resort (including Shades of Green) for two nights during the race weekend, and will need to purchase one (1) 2-day park ticket or 2 1-day park tickets. Each race participant and those sharing a room will need to purchase a minimum of a 2-day park hooper.
2- If you live within 90 miles of Orlando, you do not need to stay at a Disney but will need to purchase a theme park ticket.
3 - To the extent possible, please make all reservations and park ticket purchases through our the Disney designated travel agenct Sarah Bergman whose number is 214-676-9906.
There are exceptions to the above general rules:
- If you are an annual pass holder, please provide the pass-holder number to Sarah and us at the time of your registration.
- If you are a DVC member, you can make your bookings directly with DVC.
Minimum Fundraising Requiement:
In addition to the race registration fees, you are required to raise at least the Minimum Fundraising Requirements applicable for your registered race, which amount depends on the registration category that you select.
· The minimum fundraising requirement is due twenty (20) days before the race regardless of your participation in the races. If not received before then, CAL will charge your credit card the difference between the minimum required and your amount raised or you will not receive your packet from Disney
· CAL will notify you of the amount prior to the deficit charge.
Included in Your Registration
In addition to what Event offers you for your selected race (see http://www.rundisney.com/disneyworld-marathon/), CAL will provide the following to you:
Packet Pick-Up - You pick up your Disney packet at the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo and CAL will mail you the CAL packet before your trip.
Incentive Program (requirements must be met on or before twenty days before the race)
CAL greatly appreciates your fundraising efforts and offers the following incentives to those who exceed the minimum requirements by the amounts set forth below:
Example: If you register for the half marathon at the $800 level and you raise $1800 by the incentive closing date, CAL will provide you with $100 gift card.
