Avoid Skipping Recovery

Listening to your body is key to avoiding injury and burnout. Your body can actually grow stronger when you are at rest. The process of training includes workouts that are strategically placed along with rest days, which provides stimulation during the activity and recovery when you are at rest. If you are new to running, it is important not to push yourself to hard. Injuries can pop up when training advances too quickly. If your body is giving you warning signs, listen and take the extra time off so you can fully adjust and recover to meet your specific fitness needs.

Father's Day 5K - Phoenix

FATHER’S DAY 5K – YOU’RE MY HERO

*THIS IS A VIRTUAL RACE

Join us for our fifth annual FATHER’S DAY 5K virtual race! It’s time to celebrate your father the HERO! We will also be donating at least 15% of each registration to Team Hoyt, which works to build the individual character, confidence and self-esteem of America’s disabled and physically challenged young people through inclusion in all facets of daily life. In the spring of 1977, Rick Hoyt told his father, Dick Hoyt, that he wanted to participate in a 5-mile benefit run for a lacrosse player who had been paralyzed in an accident. Far from being a long-distance runner, Dick agreed to push Rick in his wheelchair and they finished all 5 miles, coming in next to last. That night, Rick told his father, “Dad, when I’m running, it feels like I’m not handicapped.”

What: This is a 5K virtual run (or walk) to celebrate the awesome Dads out there!

When: Complete your race any time in June 2018

*Medals and bibs will ship at the end of May. After that they will ship every 2 to 5 days.

Where:  You choose the course and you time yourself (you’ll report your finishing time to us).

Why:  Because this is our way of celebrating Father’s Day and to help raise funds for an amazing organization: Team Hoyt

Cost:  The price is$18 and that includes your medal, bib and shipping. Plus, at least 15% of every entry will be donated to Team Hoyt.  *We are in no way affiliated with this charity, we like to choose a different charity for each of our races and are happy to raise funds for them.
