Avoid Skipping Recovery
Listening to your body is key to avoiding injury and burnout. Your body can actually grow stronger when you are at rest. The process of training includes workouts that are strategically placed along with rest days, which provides stimulation during the activity and recovery when you are at rest. If you are new to running, it is important not to push yourself to hard. Injuries can pop up when training advances too quickly. If your body is giving you warning signs, listen and take the extra time off so you can fully adjust and recover to meet your specific fitness needs.
Join us for our Annual Brain Fitness 5K in Athens, GA presented by the Classic City Pilot Club. This years race is being run in memory of Diane Roberts, our race director from previous years. Please note the location for this years race, Sandy Creek Nature Center. The course will be out and back along the paved greenway.
Pilot International was founded in 1921 in Macon, Georgia. Pilot Club service projects and fundraisers benefit the local community. Hands-on service projects emphasize Brain-related disorders, disabilities, and Brain Minders.
Race Day Registration and Packet Pickup: Begins at 6:45AM
5K: Starts at 7:30AM
Awards: Awards will be presented to Overall Male/Female, Masters Male/Female, and Top 3 Male/Female in age groups beginning with 10 and under through 75 and over.
Shirts and Goodies: T-shirts will be given to participants who pre-register by August 1, 2018. Registrations after that date and on race day are not guaranteed a shirt or size. There will be plenty of refreshments.
Series Affiliation: The race is part of the 2018 Black Bag Race Series, the Clover Glove Series and the Run and See Georgia Grand Prix.
Other Info: In case of inclimate weather, the races will go on. Delay of the start may happen in case of severe weather in the area at race time. If severe weather continues, then the race director or local authorities may make the call to cancel the race at that time. Sorry, no refunds.
