Build a Foundation

Add some variety to your exercise routine. Run one day and strength train the next. This will not only hold your interest in the workouts longer, but it will give your body the time it needs for recovery. Additionally, you are covering more muscle groups throughout the body and keeping the workouts motivating and different.

To build up endurance for your 5K race include some interval training as part of your regimen. Use hill sessions and up-tempo to your runs to do this. Hold a steady running pace where you do not feel like you are just about to die, but that you can keep going.

Head to the track for shorter interval runs while learning to pace yourself. Learn to conserve your energy during the first part of the race and then to let go in the second half so you can make it to the finish line of you 5K race.

It's time for the Holiday Fun 5k 10k 15k Half Marathon!!

 

 

 

Event details and schedule

Check-in at 7:00AM-7:30AM -EVERYONE

Parking lot opens at 7:00AM right behind Jack n the Box off of Pacific Coast Hwy and Warner ave Huntington Beach, CA.


This is a small informal fun run type of event no more then 150 at the most. Official results will be posted.

All the participants will have their results posted with their names and times. And FREE pictures for everyone posted on our facebook page after the event!

Participants are not allowed to run with dogs.  Running/walking with a stroller is allowed.

Pacers and crew are welcome at any time. There are numerous restrooms and water fountains along the course.

Course map:

3 out and back loops for the half marathon. Each loop is out and back 4.36 mi. One aid station every 4.36 miles with drinking fountains along the way and numerous restrooms.

10k is two out and back 5k loops with an aid station after every loop

15k

3x 5k loops

aid station every loop at the start/finish area

5k one out and back completely flat along the beach path

10k 2x 5k loops

 

We will have an AID station after every loop at the start and finish

We will have the usual buffet of food for competitors ranging from, bananas, GU Gels, water, gatorade, etc.

 


Time Limits- 3.5 hours for the half marathon, if more time is needed please email us at: abetterworldrunning@yahoo.com for early start info. 11AM cutoff time.
No DNF's here: A person, at anytime, can drop down to a lessor distance. If a person does not complete a marathon or any other distance, then we WILL make a distance that the person completed in increments of common standard distances: 5k, 10k, 10mi, half marathon, etc.

Check in at 7:00AM-7:30AM.

All finishers get a medal.

To keep costs low and reduce waste we do not give out t shirts. But they can be made online through various stores or one could buy our A Better World Running Shirt.
