Set a Date
No matter if it is your first 5K race or your hundredth, when you register for a 5K race it will keep you motivated and on task to reach your goal of running a successful 5K race. By actually setting up a date on your calendar, you pinpoint the time that you have to be ready to step on that starting line of your 5K race.
Prepare a training schedule immediately after booking your 5K race. New runners should begin with light training and build into a longer running routine.
Back by popular demand for the 6th year, its nearly time to greet the New Year again with a a fun run with friends and a big mug of hot chocolate!
As always everyone who finishes the race gets a great mug, all the hot chocolate they can drink, and proceeds from the 'doggie dash' go to support the SPCA of Wake County.
There are 4 races to choose from! The signature event is the 5K Doggie Dash but there's also a regular 5K, 8K, and 1 Mile fun run.
The F&A Doggie Dash is also the first race of Fit & Able's 2019 Free-for-All Race Series.
Fit & Able loves family fitness and whose four-legged furry friend isn't part of the family? Dog owners are welcome to run with their pups in the Doggie Dash! For only $10 per pup it will be happy trails for both runners and their dogs. AND, the full $10 dog fee goes to support the Wake County SPCA!
PLEASE NOTE: only one dog per registered runner and you MUST register your dog for them to run with you. RRCA Rules: Dogs are not allowed in the 5K, 8K, or 1 Mile Races where children 12 & under are participating; children 12 & under are not allowed to participate in the Doggie Dash 5K. The race will be more fun with the whole family there and you'll be supporting a great organization in our community!

Race Location: WakeMed Soccer Park (201 Soccer Park Dr., Cary, NC 27511).
Course Information: The course is on WakeMed's paved and natural trails with one road crossing and moderate to big hills. If you've run at WakeMed before, this isn't the usual course. Course conditions depend on the weather prior to the event.
Events: Everyone is welcome to participate! All participants will have chip-timed results that will be posted online. All Fit & Able Productions, Inc. events are inclusion events: anyone of any age, skill-level, or ability can participate in any race! Dogs are not allowed in the 5K, 8K, or 1 Mile Races; children 12 & under are not allowed in the Doggie Dash 5K.
Athletic Trainer: An athletic trainer will be available at a medical tent located near the finish line.
Water Stations: There will be two water stations on the course: one at the 1 Mile mark and Finish line and one just after the 2 Mile mark. Water is also available at the registration and refreshment area. The water stations are marked on the map.
Packet Pick-up: All participants must show a photo ID or be with a guardian with a photo ID in order to pick up their race packets and can only pick up their own race packet. All dogs and young kids in strollers must be registered in order to participate with their owners and parents. Early packet pickup will be announced race week.
Race Souvenirs: Mug guaranteed if registered by December 10th! Mugs come in red, green, and blue. Like the mug and want another? No problem! You can reserve an additional Mutts & Marshmallows race mug for $10 or legacy HCR 14 oz. mug for $12. Participants will get their mugs at the refreshment table after the race and will be able to pick their favorite color based on availability (first come, first serve while supplies last!). Both performance tech and cotton shirts are available for purchase. Shirts and mugs must be picked up at the race; shirts and mugs won't be mailed.
Online pre-registration closes on January 11th at 9 PM. Cash, checks, and credit cards are accepted at packet pick-up and race day.
Doggie Dash 5K: +$10 per dog (only one dog per registered participant!). Mug included with registration (by Dec. 10th).

Fit & Able Productions is a nonprofit organization that has been supporting community and family fitness in Cary since 1997 through organizing creative events and training programs. We also support many programs, such as swim safety lessons for underprivileged children and adults, youth fitness programs, and health education run by our community partners including the Cary Family YMCA, Triangle Aquatic Center, and Town of Cary. Proceeds from our events that aren't designated to support other organizations go to support the event and other Fit & Able nonprofit activities.
