Build a Foundation
Add some variety to your exercise routine. Run one day and strength train the next. This will not only hold your interest in the workouts longer, but it will give your body the time it needs for recovery. Additionally, you are covering more muscle groups throughout the body and keeping the workouts motivating and different.
To build up endurance for your 5K race include some interval training as part of your regimen. Use hill sessions and up-tempo to your runs to do this. Hold a steady running pace where you do not feel like you are just about to die, but that you can keep going.
Head to the track for shorter interval runs while learning to pace yourself. Learn to conserve your energy during the first part of the race and then to let go in the second half so you can make it to the finish line of you 5K race.

It's the perfect way to start your day with a family friendly 5K run or walk 5K beginning at 9a.m. Don't worry about your speed we draw a very fun promotional crowd and Clearwater is one of our favorite locations on the www.727CanRace.com calendar.
This is an electronically timed 5K but no age group awards. Awards will be presented to the first 10 males and first 10 females across the finish line (and as always, some special categories of seniors and youth in attendance. The rest of us will be out there in good fun in an electronically timed but non-competitive 3.1 mile run or walk in Clearwater. The 5K begins at 9 a.m. Check in is race day only beginning at 8 a.m. at the venue in Clearwater. The venue is officially marketing once all permits are in but your money is guaranteed. The course is stroller/family friendly. Our post race party includes free beer for everyone over 21 and a tasty food sampler.
Check in opens at 9 a.m. at Buffalo Wild Wings 21688 US Hwy 19 N, Clearwater, FL 33765 located in the shopping plaza on the corner of US 19 and Drew.
The run is being hosted by Xanadu Race Management and benefit sthe 501c3 "Finish Lines For Scholarships." All finisher's will receive the Hot Dog finisher's medal, a Race Local technical shirt, a free food sampler and a free beer for everyone over the age of 21. We love our post race parties so invite the entire family!
