Avoid Skipping Recovery
Listening to your body is key to avoiding injury and burnout. Your body can actually grow stronger when you are at rest. The process of training includes workouts that are strategically placed along with rest days, which provides stimulation during the activity and recovery when you are at rest. If you are new to running, it is important not to push yourself to hard. Injuries can pop up when training advances too quickly. If your body is giving you warning signs, listen and take the extra time off so you can fully adjust and recover to meet your specific fitness needs.
The proceeds from the Oklahoma Academy annual 5K & 2.5K Run/Walk go to support the Worthy Student Fund, a fund that helps pay the tuition of students who desire a quality Christian education but can’t afford to attend otherwise. Students come from all over the world to attend our Secondary Education Program. Korea, Mexico, Kenya, Burma, and the Netherlands are just a few of the countries represented. Help now by registering for our annual run and receive a t-shirt with registration!
Arrive Sunday, October 21, for registration at 7:30 AM in The Country Store. Race starts at 8:00 AM. The course is in the country and has a couple gentle hills, making this a nice run for your hills training.
