Avoid Skipping Recovery

Listening to your body is key to avoiding injury and burnout. Your body can actually grow stronger when you are at rest. The process of training includes workouts that are strategically placed along with rest days, which provides stimulation during the activity and recovery when you are at rest. If you are new to running, it is important not to push yourself to hard. Injuries can pop up when training advances too quickly. If your body is giving you warning signs, listen and take the extra time off so you can fully adjust and recover to meet your specific fitness needs.

Good Samaritan 5k

The Good Samaritan 5K is pleased to bring to you our 3rd annual event in support of local causes and families in financial need in the greater Philadelphia area. Needs can be as a result of medical expenses and other essential bills impacting quality of life. The event is organized by the St. Thomas Mar Thoma Church of Delaware Valley, Malvern. Race day schedule - Registration opens at 7.30 am; Kids fun run at 8.30 am (General Wayne Elementary track); 5K Run kicks off at 9am; 2.5K Walk follows the runners at 9.05am (this event will not be timed). The 5K event with start and finish near 130 Grubb Road turning on Wayneborough, South Valley Rd, Whitehorse Rd, Davis Rd and back to Grubb Rd. 5k Awards: 1st place overall Male & Female: $200; 2nd place overall Male & Female: $100; Top Male & Female in each age group: 12 & Under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & over. Event Parking will be at General Wayne Elementary School Parking lots. Cost - $20 until 5/14, $25 until 6/7, $30 race day; Kids run $10.
