Avoid Skipping Recovery

Listening to your body is key to avoiding injury and burnout. Your body can actually grow stronger when you are at rest. The process of training includes workouts that are strategically placed along with rest days, which provides stimulation during the activity and recovery when you are at rest. If you are new to running, it is important not to push yourself to hard. Injuries can pop up when training advances too quickly. If your body is giving you warning signs, listen and take the extra time off so you can fully adjust and recover to meet your specific fitness needs.

Race the Reserve

Mark your calendars now! Race the Reserve registration is now open! Scheduled for Saturday, August 10th in conjunction with the Coupeville Arts & Crafts festival, this premier running or walking event has it all - natural beauty, a historical tour built in and some arts culture! FIVE events will be offered this year: Marathon, Marathon Relay, Half Marathon, 10K and 5K. You will be running though farm land, along Puget Sound with water and mountain views. You will see sailboats and eagles, pass historical landmarks such as first settlers' homes, block houses, military homes and parade fields at Camp Casey, gun batteries, a light house, and cooling runs through the forest. This run has it all - small town charm, beauty and even swag bags! Come visit Whidbey Island!

Nestled along Penn Cove on the northern end of Ebey’s Landing on Whidbey Island, roughly a 100-mile drive from downtown Seattle, Coupeville typically sees its warmest and driest weather of the year in August, which has brought record temperatures here as low as 38°F (in 1980) and as high as 98°F (in 1960). On race day (Aug. 10), the average low is 52ºF and the average high is 68ºF.
