Avoid Skipping Recovery

Listening to your body is key to avoiding injury and burnout. Your body can actually grow stronger when you are at rest. The process of training includes workouts that are strategically placed along with rest days, which provides stimulation during the activity and recovery when you are at rest. If you are new to running, it is important not to push yourself to hard. Injuries can pop up when training advances too quickly. If your body is giving you warning signs, listen and take the extra time off so you can fully adjust and recover to meet your specific fitness needs.

Debbie's Dash: The Debbie Linton Memorial 5k

For over 40 years, the Greater Valley YMCA, Suburban North Branch, has been serving the Catasauqua community. The goal of the Debbie Linton Memorial 5k event is to remember and capture the energy of Debbie and others who fought a brave battle against breast cancer. The challenging stretches of hills will showcase the beautiful borough of Catasauqua. As a tribute to Debbie, the 5K will encompass Alumni Field in Catasauqua. Schedule - Check-in: 7:00 am; Chip Timed 5K Run: 8:30; Walk: 8:35; Kid's Color Run 9:30; Awards to follow Kids Color Run in YMCA Gym. After Race Celebration Picnic: 11 am, free to all runners and walkers or $5.00 for non-race participant. Medals to top overall Male and Female runners and top 3 in each age category: 8-14;15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60+. Cost: 5k run and 1 mile walk - $25 until 10/1, $30 afterwards; Kids Fun Run – Free.
