Avoid Skipping Recovery

Listening to your body is key to avoiding injury and burnout. Your body can actually grow stronger when you are at rest. The process of training includes workouts that are strategically placed along with rest days, which provides stimulation during the activity and recovery when you are at rest. If you are new to running, it is important not to push yourself to hard. Injuries can pop up when training advances too quickly. If your body is giving you warning signs, listen and take the extra time off so you can fully adjust and recover to meet your specific fitness needs.

Slate Belt Sprint

Kick-off your Labor Day celebrations with us for our 3rd Annual Slate Belt Sprint 5K! This is a family event, as well as an event for competitive runners. Our challenging but achievable course is great for beginners or experienced runners alike. Schedule - 7:00am Day of Registration Opens; 8:15am 5k Run/walk begins; 9:15am Kids Fun Run begins. Awards - First Place Overall Male & Female; First Place Walker Male & Female; Top 3 Male & Female by Age Group: 11 & under, 12-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 & up. Register by August 10, 2019 to save! Registration is only $25 and includes a race t-shirt. Children ages 11 and under can register for only $10 with a participating adult and will receive the same awesome t-shirt. T-shirts only guaranteed for those who register before 8/10/19. Those registering after this date may be able to receive a shirt on race day while supplies last. Cost after 8/10 increases to $30.
