Build a Foundation
Add some variety to your exercise routine. Run one day and strength train the next. This will not only hold your interest in the workouts longer, but it will give your body the time it needs for recovery. Additionally, you are covering more muscle groups throughout the body and keeping the workouts motivating and different.
To build up endurance for your 5K race include some interval training as part of your regimen. Use hill sessions and up-tempo to your runs to do this. Hold a steady running pace where you do not feel like you are just about to die, but that you can keep going.
Head to the track for shorter interval runs while learning to pace yourself. Learn to conserve your energy during the first part of the race and then to let go in the second half so you can make it to the finish line of you 5K race.

Maximum entries will be set at 300. Registration will end December 4th unless max registration is reached prior to that date. There will be NO registrations taken on race day.
Packet Pickup: Begins at 7:45 to 8:45AM
Warm up: Begins at 8:45AM
5K: Starts at 9AM
Awards: Overall Male and Female, Masters Male and Female, plus 2 deep in standard age groups beginning with 10 and Under to 70 and Over.
Timing and Results: Finish line management and results provided by Classic Race Services with results posted to www.classicraceservices.com, www.active.com, www.coolrunning.com and www.athlinks.com.
Shirts and Goodies: Shirts are guaranteed to those who register by 11/13/19. Those registering after that date and on race day WILL NOT get a shirt. There will be plenty of refreshments.
Series Affiliation: The race is part of the 2019 Black Bag Race Series.
Other Info: In case of rain, the races will go on. Delay of the start may happen in case of severe weather in the area at race time. If severe weather continues, then the race director or local authorities may make the call to cancel the race at that time. Sorry, no refunds.
