Build a Foundation

Add some variety to your exercise routine. Run one day and strength train the next. This will not only hold your interest in the workouts longer, but it will give your body the time it needs for recovery. Additionally, you are covering more muscle groups throughout the body and keeping the workouts motivating and different.

To build up endurance for your 5K race include some interval training as part of your regimen. Use hill sessions and up-tempo to your runs to do this. Hold a steady running pace where you do not feel like you are just about to die, but that you can keep going.

Head to the track for shorter interval runs while learning to pace yourself. Learn to conserve your energy during the first part of the race and then to let go in the second half so you can make it to the finish line of you 5K race.

25th Annual RC Cola - MoonPie 10 mile & 5K Run

A beautiful countryside certified course with the charm of a small town and the excitement of a big race!  The Bell Buckle RC Cola MoonPie certified 10 Mile Run is a perennial runner favorite for 23 years!  The 2018 certified 5K FUN RUN was a huge succcess and is back for the 2nd annual. We heard your suggestions for a FINISHER'S MEDAL and everyone crossing the finish line will receive one!  At the pictureque finish line, each participant will enjoy a full breakfast including fruit, biscuits, breakfast meats, and of course RC's and MoonPies!  Race shirts are guaranteed for pre-registered participants and trophies in age divsions as listed on the webiste. Winner trophies are not mailed. Please check the time board before leaving.  Showers are available after the race along with a fun full day of festivities with the 25th annual Bell Buckle RC Cola MoonPie Festival including a parade, a coronation, games, music, and serving of the the World's Largest MoonPie. Please note, there are NO REFUNDS.

Starting line is 201 Hinkle Hill Rd. just past downtown

10 Mile START time is 7:00 am with a late cutoff at 7:15 am

5K START time is 7:30 am

Large crowds for the festival and races are expected.  Arrive early to park and get checked in.

Early packet pickup begin Friday, June 14th from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the Pavilion on Main St.

Race day packet pickup begins Saturday, June 15th from 5:30 - 6:45 am at the Paviion on Main St.

Bring printed confirmation with QR code or on cell phone

Packet pickup for friends or family require a copy of their driver's license with permission letter. No exceptions.

It is HOT. It is HUMID. 10 Mile is HILLY. HYDRATE HYDRATE HYDRATE

5K is a friendly course. Its still hot and humid!

Showers are available in the Barton Gym at The Webb School.
