Avoid Skipping Recovery

Listening to your body is key to avoiding injury and burnout. Your body can actually grow stronger when you are at rest. The process of training includes workouts that are strategically placed along with rest days, which provides stimulation during the activity and recovery when you are at rest. If you are new to running, it is important not to push yourself to hard. Injuries can pop up when training advances too quickly. If your body is giving you warning signs, listen and take the extra time off so you can fully adjust and recover to meet your specific fitness needs.

Animal House Shelter - Dash for the Dogs

CELEBRATING TEN YEARS OF DASH FOR THE DOGS!! Animal House Shelter is a non-profit, no-kill shelter in Huntley, IL. Dash for the Dogs allows us to raise funds necessary to cover the cost of our animals’ medical expenses and overall care. Can't make the event? You can register for our Virtual Dash for the Dogs and run anywhere at any time! We'll ship you an official Dash for the Dogs t-shirt and race bag the week of June 1st! Our race course is certified and timed. The top three female and male finishers in each age group receive medals. The top overall female and male finishers receive a special award. The first dog to cross the finish line will also receive a prize! Dogs are welcome to participate in the run or walk as long as they are leashed at all times, current on rabies and distemper vaccines, and have excellent temperament with other dogs and children. The first 25 dogs to arrive with a registered person will receive a goodie bag! Strollers are welcome in the run and walk. Following the run and walk we will have food, medals, awards and other festivities for people to enjoy. We will also be acknowledging our top fundraisers!
