Tip Of The Day

Build a Foundation

Add some variety to your exercise routine. Run one day and strength train the next. This will not only hold your interest in the workouts longer, but it will give your body the time it needs for recovery. Additionally, you are covering more muscle groups throughout the body and keeping the workouts motivating and different.

To build up endurance for your 5K race include some interval training as part of your regimen. Use hill sessions and up-tempo to your runs to do this. Hold a steady running pace where you do not feel like you are just about to die, but that you can keep going.

Head to the track for shorter interval runs while learning to pace yourself. Learn to conserve your energy during the first part of the race and then to let go in the second half so you can make it to the finish line of you 5K race.

Wings for Life World Run- Miami Gardens

The Wings for Life World Run returns to South Florida on May 3 at a New Venue: Hard Rock Stadium Registration is now open for the globally synchronized race that donates 100 percent of entry fees to spinal cord injury research The Wings for Life World Run will celebrate its seventh year in Florida on Sunday, May 3 and, while the incredible cause and many of the faces will remain the same, the worldwide race will now be held at the new location in Miami Gardens after six years in Sunrise, Florida. Fun runners, walkers, wheelchair rollers and competitive runners can now register to be a part of the race at the new venue. Moving the race to Hard Rock Stadium will provide an exciting new route for return runners and will give much easier access to participants from the Miami-area. Since the Wings for Life World Run has no set distance, this allows participants of all skill levels to take part, support the cause, and run a personal race unique to their ability, whether that’s a 5k or an ultramarathon. The race, which will begin at 7 a.m. EST, is unlike traditional runs because it has no finish line. The Wings for Life World Run finish line is mobile – and begins BEHIND the participants. The iconic Catcher Car starts its engine 30 minutes after the global run begins, chasing down the runners one by one until the very last remains. Whether participants are looking to spend a fun day with friends or aiming to achieve high performance, the thrill of trying to stay ahead of the Catcher Car often motivates them to achieve more than they imagined. While thousands are expected at Hard Rock Stadium, over 120,000 participants will take part in races all over the globe. The Wings for Life World Run will be livestreamed worldwide so that people can follow the dozen official race locations and see who will be the last man and woman to be caught by the Catcher Car.
