Build a Foundation

Add some variety to your exercise routine. Run one day and strength train the next. This will not only hold your interest in the workouts longer, but it will give your body the time it needs for recovery. Additionally, you are covering more muscle groups throughout the body and keeping the workouts motivating and different.

To build up endurance for your 5K race include some interval training as part of your regimen. Use hill sessions and up-tempo to your runs to do this. Hold a steady running pace where you do not feel like you are just about to die, but that you can keep going.

Head to the track for shorter interval runs while learning to pace yourself. Learn to conserve your energy during the first part of the race and then to let go in the second half so you can make it to the finish line of you 5K race.

Did you know that May is Mental Health Awareness Month? We are helping create awareness with our fourth annual Be Kind to Your Mind 1M, 5K, 10K, 13.1 26.2. We encourage you to be kind to yourself and to be gentle with others. Also, at least 15% of every registration to Mental Health America, an amazing organization that is dedicated to helping Americans achieve wellness by living mentally healthier lives. *For a limited time you can purchase an official t-shirt and/or hoodie HERE! What: This is a 1M 5K 10K 13.1 or 26.2 virtual race in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month! You choose which distance you will complete. When: Complete your race any time in May! *Medals and bibs will start shipping out mid-April. After that they will ship out within 2 to 5 days of signing up. Where: You choose the course and you time yourself (you’ll report your finishing time to us). Why: Because this is our way of celebrating our beautiful minds! Cost: The price is $22 and that includes your medal, bib and shipping. Plus, at least 15% of every entry will be donated to Mental Health America. *We are in no way affiliated with this charity, we like to choose a different charity for each of our races and are happy to raise funds for them.
