Tip Of The Day

Build a Foundation

Add some variety to your exercise routine. Run one day and strength train the next. This will not only hold your interest in the workouts longer, but it will give your body the time it needs for recovery. Additionally, you are covering more muscle groups throughout the body and keeping the workouts motivating and different.

To build up endurance for your 5K race include some interval training as part of your regimen. Use hill sessions and up-tempo to your runs to do this. Hold a steady running pace where you do not feel like you are just about to die, but that you can keep going.

Head to the track for shorter interval runs while learning to pace yourself. Learn to conserve your energy during the first part of the race and then to let go in the second half so you can make it to the finish line of you 5K race.

Welcome back trail series

Welcome Back Trail Series June 27th, July 11th, July 25th We are thankful to Lake Geneva Ziplines & Adventures (Lake Geneva, WI) for allowing us to resume our trail running this summer. In order to work around their busy time of year, each of the three trail runs will start at 7:00pm. We will have some form of packet pick-up and for the June event, will be doing online sign up only. The distances for each of the three events will be: 3-4 miles and 6-8 miles, final course route has not been determined. We will modify the course in some ways for each of the three dates. Unsure of the swag for any of the events at this point, but there will be a couple choices as is our tradition. We will not be serving food for the June event, but beer, soda and water will be available. If you would like food you are welcome to bring it. These events are dog-friendly. Those that have run these trails in the Fall, Winter and Spring know how amazing they are, but we have a feeling they will be completely different trails with the signs of Summer on the trees and undergrowth in full bloom. Thank you and have a great day! Kenosha Running Company, Inc.
